3 Reasons You Should Update Your Headshot

Thursday, March 26, 2020 | By: Doug Burke Photography

When you have a recent photo of yourself on the internet, it increases trust and credibility to those that come across your profile or website. Statistics show that potential clients will interact more with a brand when they can associate it to a person, rather than a logo.  A current professional headshot will automatically connect with your potential client, colleagues, employers and others.

When do You Update Your Headshot?

1.    Appearance- Weight gain or loss, hair color or style, new glasses, or perhaps the shirt you wore in your last headshot is beginning to look dated. These things may seem obvious to most people but for your potential clients to trust you, you need to look like your photo. I think we have all seen that realtor picture that is obviously not recent.

2.    The current headshot you have is one that you took yourself. If you were creative, you enlisted the help or a friend or family member. Without the proper knowledge of lighting, it will look amateur. When you want to represent that you are the top of your industry, you want to come across professional. Thus, use a professional headshot photographer.

3.    You don’t have any options. Most people should have a few different headshots depending on where they are being used to show a variety of aspects to your personality, career and interests. These can be used on different websites with different backgrounds, clothing, poses or facial expressions depending on what you want to convey to the viewer.
