5 Poses That Will Add a Unique Touch to Your Senior Photos

Senior photos are one of the most important photos you or your kids will ever take in their lives, and these will be cherished forever. This is when they are graduating from high school and beginning their exciting journey of adulthood. They each have their dreams and aspirations. Most seniors are leaving their parents' homes and going off to pursue their dreams. It is a memorable milestone that you want to preserve for decades to come so that you can look back and remember yourself as a young adult with eyes filled with hopes and dreams.

Here are some great poses that you can try for your senior photos:

Excited About College

This is always a great one! If you have already received your acceptance letter from the college you plan to attend; you can pose wearing merchandise representing your future college. Or you can pose with your acceptance letter pointing and it with your jaw dropped. Let your personality shine through, and have fun with your portrait. It's yours; own it!

Action Shots

These are sometimes the best shots. Standing in one place can be tedious and may sometimes appear flat in photos. Adding movement to your pictures by walking and getting photographed or twisting your body adds movement and a more natural look to your photographs. Standing straight and posing can sometimes appear too stiff and unnatural.

Lean Back

Leaning back for photographs creates an excellent angle for photographs. You can lean back against a wall or generally while you are standing. You can make this a ¾ shot rather than a full-length shot if you prefer, and all you need to do is relax, be natural and give your best smile to the camera. You can never go wrong with a leaning-back shot.

Sit Down

This pose is great, to begin with, as it can help the nervous graduate relax and get comfortable. The idea behind getting a good shot is to enjoy it, let your personality shine through, and be completely relaxed. It doesn't matter if you are not comfortable doing a unique pose, you can get a fantastic photograph in a sit-down pose as well!

Sports Shot

Suppose you were part of your school football team, the cheerleading squad, or the baseball team. You can gear up in your uniform and take a photo in action. It is a great way to make memories of one of the best times of your life, being part of some thing you will never forget and miss.

The Final Word

Finally, there really isn't a perfect shot when it comes to photography; it all boils down to feeling comfortable and yourself at the moment. The best way to do that is to dress comfortably and enjoy the moment. Think about your exciting future ahead and give your most confident smile. Straighten your back and stand tall. You have just graduated! Let our team at Doug Burke Photography take care of your senior year photo shoot, and rest assured that you will not regret it.
