Behind The Scenes

Everyone loves to see a great finished shot but when I look to other photographers for inspiration and insight, I really enjoy seeing how the finished photo was made. I don't always have someone there to shoot the behind the scenes for me but I wanted to share a few that I have. Please let me know in the comments at the bottom of the page which one is your personal favorite and why. I'd love to hear your feedback!

The picture above was shot at the Graylyn Estates in Winston Salem. This is a beautiful backdrop for family portraits!

Mike & Jen's wedding in Pinnacle, NC. This was a magical day to say the least and will always be one I remember, partly because I got married the next day. :)

When a Kernersville family needed photos for the launch of their new website, I was happy to oblige. We walked around the downtown area and stopped at this location to get a headshot in the courtyard.

Working with these twins were absolutely wonderful! While it was hard to get them settled into these stoic poses, they did a fantastic job of pulling it off for the camera.

This a great example of using certain angles to get the look you want. Most people have  tendency to take a photo from the standing position, but this rarely works. It is important to get down low when shooting children and I have no problem laying on the ground.

Kristen and Bryan came to me for an engagement session. After hearing the things they enjoyed doing in their spare time, it was clear shooting at Lake Brandt, Greensboro was the perfect spot. More below.

It isn't often that I have clients willing to get into a lake, fully clothed with no hesitation. In the excitement I forgot one of my own rules and that is to look where I lay. It wasn't until I started to get up that I realized I was laying in goose poop. It was worth it in the end and the couple loved their photos.

Other photographers ask me "what is your headshot setup"? I usually take the time to explain everything that I do and how I setup my headshots. I try to share freely like a few local photographers and others in Facebook groups shared with me when I asked questions. This is an example of the lighting setup for the shot.

That is about all I have for now but please keep an eye out for more as I focus on getting more behind the scenes pictures. If you found this useful or want to schedule your session, please feel free to visit the contact page HERE.
