Senior portraits are one of the most important photographs that you will ever take in your life. You will look back on the years and remember the wonderful time you took this photo. It will most likely be framed and hung on the wall at your parent's home, where they will proudly talk about you with their friends who visit their home.

A Senior portrait is taken just as you have graduated from high school and are ready to leave your parents' home to embark on the great adventure you have planned for yourself. It is surely an exciting time, and while your eyes and smile are your best accessory in this portrait, it's great to match that with a cute outfit.

Here are some great ideas for outfits to wear in your senior portrait:

Rep Your Style

This photograph is about you during a very important time in your life. You can use this opportunity to represent your style and let your personality shine through your photograph. Wear an outfit you feel and look your best in and one that you feel comfortable in. there is no need to copy someone else's style, as you won't feel your best when trying to look like someone else. Remember, your best accessory is your smile!

Be Comfortable

The best outfit is the one that is the most comfortable. Avoid wearing an outfit that is too tight and feels hot or uncomfortable. How you feel will reflect in your photos; therefore, it is important to wear an outfit that feels easy and breezy. The more relaxed you feel, the better your photograph will be. Remember, getting a good shot can take time, and waiting in an uncomfortable outfit can make you impatient and annoyed.

Choose According To The Weather

Whether it is summer or fall season, dress according to the weather. Since photoshoots take a while, you should dress according to the weather so that you may remain comfortable throughout the shoot. Feeling too hot or cold will make it difficult for you to take the perfect shot.

Less Is More

Do not over-accessorize or wear too many clothes. Try to keep it minimalistic. Trends change; therefore, it is essential to wear an outfit that is not over the top. Otherwise, you might look back at the photo and regret your choice of extra clothing. Stick to a classy and simple attire, as it is always a safe choice.

Pick Neutral Colors

Try to pick neutral colors rather than wearing extremely bright clothing. Try not to wear too many colors, such as a bright-colored top with bright-colored pants and the third color in shoes. This looks too bright and bold in photographs and does not always look appealing. It is a good idea to break bright colors with a neutral shade.

Stay Away From Bold Patterns

Avoid wearing large stripes, polka dots and other patterns on your top or dress. Solid colors are a better option as they do not draw the viewer's eyes away from the focus of the image. Bold patterns look too distracting and can draw attention away from the person's face onto their clothes.

The Final Word

If you are wondering how to dress for your senior photo shoot, some great tips are discussed above. You can also discuss all your concerns with the fantastic team of Doug Burke Photography and let them take care of everything.
