How Many Outfits Should I Bring for Senior Portraits

When it comes to senior photos, you definitely want to make sure you look amazing. But picking out the right location is already hard - what about the right outfit?

How many outfits should you bring for senior portraits - if at all?

Should You Bring Multiple Outfits?

The answer is yes!

Of course, it’s not necessary, but it’d definitely help to have more than one outfit so you can really get a good variety of pictures. With only one outfit, even if you go around to different locations, it won’t look all that different because you’ll still be wearing the same clothes.

How Many Outfits Should You Bring?

The number of outfits you need would depend on various things. The number of locations, and the time you spend taking photos is usually what counts the most though. It’s always good to have a couple of outfits per location so you can get a decent amount of variety.

This can be difficult though, because you don’t want to lug around a bunch of clothes, so one outfit per location isn’t too bad either. If you’re going to only one or two locations though, having a few outfits would help.

What Should My Outfits Be Like?

If you want to wear only one outfit, regardless of where you go, it’s best to pick out something that could be considered casual and fancy at the same time. That way, you won’t be too casual or too overdressed either.

But one is pretty boring. If you’re wearing two outfits, having one casual and one dressy is the best option. For three outfits, pick out one casual, one dressy and one that’s in-line with whatever the trend is nowadays. Even fads work!

For more than three outfits, you should look at the kinds of locations you’re going for and pick your outfits accordingly. Look through magazines and professional photoshoots to see what kinds of clothes look magical in any given location and pick something similar!

Your photographer can also help you by giving you some helpful tips on what kind of outfits look best and where.

You can even do something really over the top - like a stage costume that you wouldn’t wear on a daily basis or even for a fancy event. Of course, you still want to look like yourself, so pick these out accordingly.

And of course, don’t forget your makeup and hairstyles! You probably won’t get time to completely redo your entire look, so think of what kind of style works best with all your outfits beforehand.

You don’t want to end up running out of time on photo day, and you definitely want to ruin your photos because you were in a hurry!
