Not Wearing White for Your Wedding? Here’s How to Pose for Photos

If you’re opting out of wearing a white dress for your wedding, then there are a number of other ways to make sure your wedding photos look amazing. Here are some ideas on how to pose for photos with any color wedding gown:

·         Keep it Simple

A simple and elegant pose will always photograph well no matter what color dress you’re wearing. Stand with your hands clasped together in front of you, or have the groom place his hand on your waist while you hold his shoulder.

·         Show Off Your Silhouette

If you have an especially ornate gown, consider having a few full-length shots taken to showcase it. Stand in profile with your arms extended out to the sides and your dress billowing behind you.

·         Play With Color

Choose a colorful, vibrant background for an eye-catching photo that will look great no matter what color your gown is. Have the groom stand on one side of you, and set up props or flowers on the other side for a fun contrast in hues.

·         Step into Nature

Take advantage of any outdoor spots like gardens, fields, or forests near your wedding venue to create stunning and unique photos. Gently hold hands while walking down a path and keep calm as you enjoy each other’s company.

No matter what color dress you decide on, it’s important to have fun and make sure you’re comfortable in your poses. With a little bit of planning, you can capture amazing photos that you’ll cherish for years to come.

Why You Shouldn’t Stress on Posing for Wedding Photos?

When it comes to wedding photos, many couples feel pressure from friends and family to get everything perfect. While you certainly want your special day to be captured in beautiful images, there is no need to stress too much about posing for pictures.

First of all, put trust in your photographer – they will have plenty of experience when it comes to capturing moments that are naturally beautiful. If you’re still feeling anxious, think back on your engagement photo session or consult with the photographer before the big day. This way, you can practice a few poses and get used to being in front of the camera together.

Also, remember that natural smiles make for better photos than forced ones – so even if you don’t have any prior experience with posing, just be yourself and let your love shine through. After all, the day is about celebrating the two of you.

Finally, if you’re still struggling to feel comfortable in front of the camera, think back on moments that made you laugh together or recall happy memories from your relationship. This will help you relax and take away some of the pressure – plus it can make for some truly special photos!

At the end of the day, don't worry too much about posing for wedding photos – your photographer will know how to capture your love story naturally and beautifully. Just focus on enjoying every moment with each other and let yourself show off how much joy this milestone has brought into your life.

At Doug Burke Photography, we are experts in helping people take great photos on their weddings. So, if you’re not wearing white on your wedding and want to know how to pose for photos, contact us today by calling at 336.486.9932 for more information.
