What is the difference between a senior portrait session and class pictures? Knowing what each stands for and the variation between the two can help you to take the best class pictures and senior portrait sessions that you can be proud of in the future.

Difference Between a Senior Portrait Session and Class Pictures

The main difference is that class pictures can be rather formal, while senior portrait photos happen to be more carefree.

Class pictures tend to feel rather rigid and planned, while senior portrait photos emphasize the individual persona of the subject.

Senior portraits can help students feel good and more confident about themselves. After the photo session is over, they have natural looking photos that aptly manifest their personality and outer beauty.

Although the two can feel very different, both are necessary since you can get the best of both worlds this way. Senior portraits and class photos can give you memorable images to embellish walls and albums for future generations to admire. They are both an ideal way to capture the nostalgia of the most important transitionary phase in a person’s life. After all, senior year is the point at which young teens transform into responsible adults.

Class Photo

The class photo is steeped in tradition and is customary for high school seniors. This practice can help high school seniors to capture well choreographed and planned photos for the yearbook. These photos are taken in a way to show the subject in the best possible way with a strong formal touch.

Senior Portrait

Senior portraits are more natural and casual than senior class photos. These highly candid photos are just what you need to flaunt your unique style and personal suave.
